after my last post i started looking at things to grow, i decided on cotton since i want to learn to spin. i got some cotton seeds & a tiny green house, planted 30 seeds, only 12 came up & are doing well.  they are gonna be living/growing inside because i am not a good gardner & i don't want boll weevils! i ordered 3 kinds of cotton, red beauty, pima & egyptian. the egyptian didn't come up at all & only 2 of the pima's did SO i am waiting on some arkansas green cotton seeds to arrive as a replacement & i'll try to grow them :) i am gonna have a room full of cotton plants! now on to spinning! i got a drop spindle last week, i have spent about an hour learning to spin &  i think i am doing pretty good so far. my personal goal for spinning is to get the yarn very thin since i like to knit with thin yarn. the bottom part is what i spun most recently so i am getting better at making it thin :D that is a quarter next to it so you can see how thin it is. i am learning on wool (i'm a bad vegan) but everyone that spins says to learn on wool because its easier that learning on slippery cotton.

i want a spinning wheel someday but i can't afford one right now. maybe after i harvest my cotton in the fall i will be able to get one. cotton takes 150+ days to be ready to harvest from the time seeds are planted so i have time to get my spinning skills down :D
