Recycling, Earth Friendly~ness & Veganism
i have been recycling aluminum cans & newspapers, i want to start recycling plastic too, but i can't find anywhere to take plastic! the cleaning products i use (method) come in recyclable containers, so as soon as i find somewhere to take plastic, i'm gonna be able to be even more earth friendly! i still drink bottled water & i know that is NOT earth friendly, but i just can't bring myself to use a re~usable drinking bottle! i only drink water when i workout or go bicycling, but thats still around 2 a day! not very good of me at all! i bought re~useable bags to use when i shop. i got the chico bag ($5 each), it measures 4” x 2 ½” x 1” when folded into it's sweet little (attached) pouch & when expanded it's 18" x 13" & holds 20lbs & they come in 10 color choices! y'all know how i love color choices! i love these because they can fit into your purse or pocket so you don't have to *remember* to grab them before you leave & they are machine washable. i actually have REMEMBERED to use them too!! yay! i haven't gotten any plastic OR paper bags in weeks!
i started using the method *lil' bowl blu'* toilet bowl cleaner & i love it! it's about $6 & it smells all minty & good! i also have been using Alba Botanica Moisturizing Shave Cream, in Coconut Lime ($5) it has made shaving easy & enjoyable again! i usually have the hardest time shaving my legs because they are very sensitive & the get razor burn no matter what i try... until i found this shave cream! & another new (well new to me) thing i have been using is the Diva Cup! the diva cup is a reusable feminine hygiene product made from silicone. it's about $25 but after that you don't have to buy another one... EVER! it is the most environmentally friendly feminine hygiene choice out there, no toxins from non~organic cotton spewing into your body & no more guessing about *what size* tampon to use!
of course all of those thing are vegan & earth friendly, links to these products are on the right side bar of this blog :-)
now on to Oprah! she is gonna be vegan for 21 days! she started this on sunday & from what her blog says, she is enjoying it & has plenty to eat! i'm so glad a public figure, like Oprah, has shed some light on the vegan lifestyle! i truly hope she can draw more & more people to at least live more cruelty free lives, even if they only start it for the health benefits!
Knitting & Crocheting
i have been crocheting a monkey, *Moe monkey Moe problems* is his name :-) LOL! he is from the *Amigurumi! super happy crochet cute* pattern book by Elisabeth Doherty , but they call him Benny the Monkey in there. anyways, it's my first time making a toy & i'm having fun doing it! it's way easier than i though it would be too :-)
i'm still working on my filet crochet bat blanket too! it's warm out, so i'm taking my time with it.
as for Knitting, i'm still working on the socks i had to frog, i haven't worked on them in a while, but they are still on the DPN's in their bag, just waiting to be picked up again. & i knitted a seal (the same day i started on Moe), all of the parts came out looking right, but the body is way too tiny for it's flippers & tail :-/ i think i'm gonna frog the body & make a bigger one to fit the other parts, bigger is better anyways!
Both of the toys need eyes & accessories so i'm gonna have to go shopping for those soon & i'll post pics of them soon too!
